The importance of Proofreading

It's pretty bad when you get lost while re-reading something you've written. Not in a, " oh wow this is a really good story and I'm gripped by it" way. More like a, " What the fuck is going on?" way. Like when your characters change names or the whole thing is building up for one moment only to end up going in a whole other direction. This is why you proof read and self-edit before you pass it along to someone else to read. This is also why most of my work is sitting on my hard drive and not seeing the light of day right now. Seriously it's bad.

I'll admit Grammar isn't always my friend either. I swear one day I will figure it all out and write a book about how to make Grammar your bitch. Just, not right now. I have my hands full with my current work as you can tell.

Spelling is tricky too. See you need to have a rough idea of what you're trying to spell for spell check to work. Wait, that's a lie. You don't have to have a rough idea but it helps. That way you don't end up with a sentence that's funnier than you intended because although the word is spelled right it's totally the wrong word. Happens all the damn time too. But I can laugh it off.

As you might have guesses that's what I've spent the passed few days doing. Laughing and proof reading. There may have been a few tears too, but I'm blaming them on the injury.
